Pallas Bane, at age 13, finished a minute-long Photoshop and Flash animation about her favorite food – The Big Cheese. She and her brother composed and sang an original soundtrack that included drumming on a file cabinet. Her film was screened at 2003 Ottawa International Student Animation Festival (SAFO 03), and won the “Gouda Special Award” – a real wheel of cheese! As an Attending Director, P accepted her award on stage, was filmed by Ontario Public Television Channel 6, and received gifts from the Disney Television Animation Rep.

Her film was packaged as part of the Best of SAFO 03 and toured in Canada and the United States, including the National Film Board of Canada’s Mediatheque in Toronto. Stateside, over the years, The Big Cheese has screened at the Nashville FF; Kidflix, The Florida International Children’s FF; The Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival; the Annapolis FF; No Festival Required; MHz Shorties, and the 2009 edition of Artomatic,
• The Big Cheese is included in the University of Maryland College Park Non-Print Media Collection and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Short Film Collection.
• The Big Cheese ran as an interstitial on RCN Cable’s Kids Channel launch in several national markets during 2004-2005.
Pallas received a Theatre Degree from the University of Maryland, and has created sets at Interlakes Theatre and Wolf Trap.
